Specs: Windows XP
Have printer wired to desktop computer that is in a home network with a wireless laptop. How to get the laptop to be able to print using the printer connected to the desktop.

How are you doing internet access for the pc?

On the desktop PC, go to printers and faxes. You have to share the printer on the machine that the printer is initially installed on. Then on the laptop go to printers and faxes and select "add a printer". Select networked printer and navigate to the computer name that hosts the printer. the printer should show up in the list. Assuming both machines are running XP the drivers for the printer should transfer and install to the laptop. If not install the drivers for the OS you are using from the disk that came with the printer.

from the pc log into to Internet on Internet Explorer. don't know what anic card is.desktop and laptop are both on the network,but desktop is wired into router

Did you see anything in the first OP post that says there is a wireless router in the mix?
Answer is no.
I start at basics and don't assume there is anything more than a pc with a printer and a laptop which is why I asked about a nic in the pc and about internet which would have told us about a router.
