Connected okay but no internet

Specs: Windows XP SP3
Friend asked me to have a look at their Asus EeePC. Was working fine, then they started deleting a load of files after closing off one of the user profiles on it. After that it would connec to the router, but wouldn't connect to the internet. Tried turning homehub off then netbook and leaving them for a while before turning hub back on then netbook, but no change. Brought it round to mine to see if it was a router problem, but ti did exactly the same even while my laptop was churning away happily.

Newtork diagnostic came up with "Default gateway could not be resolved via ARP'

Ipconfig suggests default gateway is

My laptop had a default gateway of - is this the problem, and if so, how do I change it on th enetbook?

ipconfig /all comes up with only about ten lines of stuff

Right - managed to change the deafult gateway and it has got rid of a load of entries of the diagnotisc report. Still pleanty of stuff on it now, but:
Warnings showing - default gateway is in a different subnet - default gateway is invalid.

When you changed the default gateway to, if your subnet mask is, then you have to change your ip address also to reflect the change. This means that the IP will have to be in the range of - Since this is not in place only you will be getting an error saying default gateway is in deifferent subnet.
