Connect Kindle Fire to wireless network

Specs: Windows XP
Hello, I have a Kindle fire that I am trying to connect to my wireless network at work. The network is not set up with any security enabled but from what I remember the guy setting it up said the router does not automatically assign a ip address to new devices, you have to enter it manually. How would I go about finding out what numbers to enter to get the kindle to connect? Could I find out through another machine connected to the same network? (hard wired)

If more info is needed let me know

Unless you know the router admin user ID and password the only thing you may be able to determine from another PC connected to the network is the static IP it uses.
That would not be of much assistance since you cannot have two devices use the same IP in the same network.
Q ? When you say "my wireless network at work" does this mean you are the business owner and are therefore free to alter/add things to the network?
Is the wireless network detected by the kindle? I'm not sure just how/why you would have an unsecured wireless network and trust that having DHCP turned off would be a sufficiently secure environment to operate. Was the person who set this up a paid professional? How does any other wireless client connect to the system? or have you not had to add any device since the network was first set up?
