Connect a usb harddrive to a router

Specs: Windows 7, 4gb
I have a WD, 1TB, external harddrive with a USB connection and would like to know if it is possible to get a USB hub with an ethernet connector to connect into the back of my router. Is it possible to do this? If so, what will I need to do? Will I need to give the external drive a static IP address, then partition it?

Even if you could get an USB to Ethernet, which I doubt, the external drive would need a built in network interface. If it did it would already have an Ethernet connector. You would certainly need to give the drive an IP address and that is where the Network Interface comes in.

There are some routers where you can connect a USB interface directly to the router but those routers have a built in file server.
