I have installed a DIR615 N Router and can get onto the Internet on the PC, but when I type in the device IP address it comes up with an "error" message so I cannot configure it. I am not very computer literate at all so please talk in simple English :)
Thank you. I did receive a manual but it asked me questions like DHCP Connection/PPPoE/PPTP and various other connections which I didn't understand. I guessed DHCP and then it asked me to type in "Your Pc MAC Address" and I had no idea what this and I put the Device IP in there. Now I cannot get the 192.168.0.1/ to bring a web page up even. I think I will have to phone someone or get a technichian in. Thank you for your suggestions I do appreciate them.
Thank you for your reply. I checked through the manual and got lost on what a DHCP, PPPTP etc was hence selected DHCP. A few steps after that it asked for my PC MAC Address which I had no idea of and I typed in the device IP. I think I've really blown it as I cannot get the IP address of 192.168.0.1 which is in the manual to bring a web page now. Any further suggestions. As you may have gathered I am technologically challenged but have to no qualms in playing around with it. Thanks heaps.
the router will have a reset button on it somewhere so you can reset it to factory default. Usually a small hole located on back or underside into which you insert a straightened paperclip to press the microswitch. The manual will tell you how. Suggest you do so. then read up on how to find out your pc's mac address :http://www.wikihow.com/Find-the-MAC-Address-of-Your-Computer
