Specs: Windows XP
i currently have a home office that is equipped with a windows laptop and internet connection. i presently do not have a router, so i just plug the ethernet cable directly into the laptop.

i am looking to purchase an imac in the near future and am wondering what to purchase in order to be able to use one or both of the machines wirelessly.

one thing i cannot do is install additional software to the company laptop. would apples airport express do the trick?

The easy answer is to purchase a wireless capable SOHO Router and connect it. I would of course check that this is ok with the company first before purchasing anything. Since this is work related, they may actually purchase and setup the unit for you.

I agree with Curt R. You could purchase an N-class router for less than $50, and set up a network that would allow you to connect both Windows and Mac laptops wirelessly with very little effort. Along with several Windows PCs and laptops, I have a Mac PowerBook G4 at home. The Mac has its own wireless airport card, which allows it to connect to my network just fine.
