Cisco DDR 2200 CL Router Issue

August 30, 2011 at 19:15:14
Specs: Windows 7
Yesterday, Centurylink installed a Cisco DDR2200-CL router and now I cannot access the internet on my wireless laptop after the technician completed the installation. Any idea why I cannot access the wireless connection. The technicians are telling me that it has something to do with Windows 7 or some hidden firewall????? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Did they tell you what your 'Security Mode', SSID, or Passphrase was? Normally a router will be setup with some form of security which you'll need to use your network. Windows7 does have a built in firewall, but you can easily update the settings to allow traffic over your network. (Click on the security center icon.)

Check you little connection thingy in the system tray. You may need to find and connect to your network before anything else if the tech didn't set this up for you. If your network connection says it connected but limited, you should be able to log in the the router ( normally) to see the security settings for your router. Hopefully he left you with the login/password, but if not, try admin/admin or admin/blank.

I too am experiencing CenturyLink Prism problems. I have two laptops and neither one will communicate with the Cisco Gateway Router they installed. Their system SUCKS....I've been down for 48 hours and no one in their entire technical support system knows what to do. I am going back to DISH.
