Specs: Windows XP, 3gb
Hi there!

I have bought a new NAS drive which connects
to my computer running Windows XP over a
network. I have a wireless router/switch which I
connect all the devices to, which also serves
as the adsl modem.

I want to store all my dvds (iso format) and
avis etc on my NAS drive and play them over
the network on my xbmc (and use the NAS for
general backup and storage).

Now the problem is: I tried copying big files
over wireless and to be honest it took too long,
so I copied over all the big files using the
drive's USB cable. No problems at all. However
when I pull out the usb plug and look for the
files over the network (tcp/ip) I cannot see any
files bigger than 2gb!

Someone said to me that it may be formatted
incorrectly, but I checked and it's set up as
NTFS. Can anyone offer any help/advice, I'm at
wits end as now everytime I want to access
my big files I need to plug in the USB.

Go into the configuration page for your NAS drive and see if they have any thing that would limit the size of file available over TCP/IP. I would call their tech support being that they would know how to configure your drive.

copy the file from your pc to the nas server. do you get an error and if so what is it? I am assuming you have at least one computer wired to the router.

The file transfer takes absolutely forever and then just stops.

I should also mention that over FTP this all works fine, just not in
the windows explorer!!
