Can't recover deleted files.

May 11, 2011 at 07:42:52
Specs: Windows XP
I use an office computer and save most of my work to My Documents so the files can be backed up on the company's server. This is performed automatically during start-up and shutdown while synchronizing.

I'm aware of the fact that when files are deleted from a shared network folder, they are unrecoverable without a third party software for purchase.

My question is, when I delete a file from My Documents, why is it not sent to my Recycling Bin so I can recover the file if needed. When I am connected to the office network, My Documents is now treated like a shared network folder.

sounds like you have folder redirection enabled so your my documents is actually on the server so it gets backed up.

This being the case the files are never in your local my documents folder which is why you don't see them in recycle bin.

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.

When I am off the network, ie. working from home, all of the work that I do on the network at work is still in my My Documents folder. On Saturday at home, I can access all of the files that I worked with on Friday at work right up till when I synched and logged off. Then any work I do at home and save to My Documents is synched on Monday when I log on.
