can't map network drive xp

Microsoft Windows server 2003 r2 standar...

Specs: Windows XP
Cannot map a network share on a wokstation, even on the Administrator account. server is Windowsn 2003, workstations are XP Pro.

That is a statement not a question. You provide no information as to what you have tried or what error messages you received. You don't even state if the pcs can see each other.

We received a system error 87 when we tried to use a net use to map a drive, and yes all the computers could see each other using IP addresses in a PING, but we could not browse the network. Stopping and restarting the IP network address translator service allowed us to be able to map network shares using the \\computer name\share name, but we still cannot browse from the map a drive dialog box. Any suggestions on what to look for?

Workstations pointed to the server for dns or the internet gateway?
Netbios over tcp/ip set to default or enabled? Wins tab in network properties
