Cant get Internet by typing domain name syste

Hi!
I have experienced a internet problem on one computer in the office. When I try to access the web using domain name on the address bar, the explorer does not respond and if I try the same using ip address, I get response.
The same happends for pinging, using the name I get the message 'pinging can not find the host...' but if i do the ping using ip address of any web server, I get the reply. Please help

Check the settings on a working system using command ipconfig /all
Look at gateway and DNS addresses.
Now do the same on the problem machine. You will probably find invalid or missing DNS address.

To correct this you need to go into the TCP/IP properties menu of the network connection properties. Go into control panel > Network Connections and rightclick on the LAN or Internet connection and select Properties. Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the list and then select properties. You can manually set the DNS server address there.

I have done all that, but still nothing respond. This behaviour has come after the computer being attacked with viruses..

Then I suggest you open up a command box and type sfc /scannow

You will need your XP install CD.

This should restore your system files and may fix the problem
