Did you configure DHCP in the router? What IP is your PC now getting? Did you configure the PC to obtain IP automatically now that it is connecting through the router?

I connected the laptop directly to the router and did a homegroup on windows 7. when I disconnected the cable it kept working wireless for some reason. I'm not sure if that did the trick. but now it works... thanks for your help anyways
