What make/model of router are you using?

What (if any) AP (access point) are you using?

How far away from the wireless device is your laptop and is there a lot of interference between you and it (ie: walls)?

What signal strength are you getting?

When your computer is connected to network, type following command in command prompt and make sure it displays correct IP, subnet mask, gateway and DNS info.

ipconfig /all

If not, probably it did not receive correct network settings from DHCP server.
