Specs: Windows 98
my husbnd has an old ibm thinkpad 770 with windows 98. we are trying to get it connected to the internet but cant. I have comcast in another room connected to my pc. He has a blue ray device in the room with the laptop. We just bought a LAN ethernet card but it still wont work. Keeps saying about netdi.dll and he doesn't have the hardware to install. We have probably put more money into this thing than it's worth, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Stop throwing good money after bad. It's time to buy something new. Laptops are really cheap these days for a basic machine.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately we have passed the point of no return with this thing. No money now for another.

How are you trying to connect the thinkpad to the internet by wire or wireless? What adapter do you have in the thinkpad?

Hi,
First let me thank you for responding. I dont know what type the adapter is (can't get into that room right now) all I can tell you is it's an ac adapter. You will have to excuse my ignorance when it comes to computers. We never had computers when I went to school. I bought a LAN card that looks like it has a telephone jack in it but my husband says it isn't. He doesn't care how he connects to the internet, via wireless or not. He has tried hooking it to the blueray device and still cant connect. I've put in over $125.00 in this thing. Hope you can help, I really appreciate it. Can supply any details you need.

The first think that should have been done is read the manual. The ethernet could be connected by either usb or a pcmcia carrd.
