I checked cables, the lids are alright but when i try to access the router thru 192.168.1.1 that is the TL-WR740N standard, it simply dont access...
when i try thru the CD that came with it, it says that is a problem with DHCP..
i'm using windows 7 ultimate 64bits
what do i do?!?!?
Open a command prompt window on your PC (Start >> Run >> type cmd and hit Enter) and perform the following command: ipconfig /all
Look for the Default Gateway address. This should be the LAN IP of your router. Enter that IP in your web browser and you should connect to the Management Interface for your router.
If that's the same IP you listed above, try a different web browser.

You need to configure your computer with IP 192.168.1.x (ie. 192.168.1.100), netmask 255.255.255.0 and gateway 192.168.1.1. If not too sure how to do it, check out this configure IP in Windows 7 article. Hope this helps.
Srry for taking so long to respond...
Nothing helped. At the start, when i type ipconfig/all, it showed no ip on default gateway.
Then i configured the computer IP just like Picohat said, now the IP is shown in the default gateway line but i still can't connect...
It says the server took too long to respond...
U guys have any other ideas?
thx for the help!!!
Another thing. Before a brought the TL-WR740N i had the TL-WR642G that worked just fine, on the same computer, with the same operational system.
if this unit was new out of the box I would take it back. It sounds defective. if this unit was previously used reset it to back to factory defaults [press reset button on router] and then set your tcp/ip back to autoassigned and see if you then get a ip address with gateway entry.

Well, the same problem persists.... even after the reset.
i'm gonna get it back to the store then.
ty man!
I got news!
Before going to the store, i wanted to test in another computer, so i borrowed my neighbor laptop wich uses windows vista home premium and it worked...
By the way, im posting this from the laptop using the TL-WR740N.Any clues why it does not work on my windows 7???
compare the network settings on the vista laptop to your windows 7 network setup.
post an ipconfig /all from the win7 machine for review.Answers are only as good as the information you provide.

I'm pretty newbie in computer stuff, so for me it says nothing =(
if you used the same cable as the vista laptop the only conclusion I can come to is your nic is the problem. Go to lan connections [where your network card is listed] and right mouse click on it. Do you have enable or disable as a choice?
Go to device manager and look at the nic. is there a yellow exclaimation point?

How to properly post a question:
There's a disable option and no yellow exclamation.
It worked with the last router TL-WR642G just few days ago...
