cant access my router config

October 31, 2011 at 11:36:52
Specs: Windows XP/win 7, 2
we recently got a new router and added it to our network... works fine the problem now is that i'm trying to add some other ip addresses to access wireless internet (for security reasons the wirless internet is available only to one set of ip addresses) but now that i try to access the router config to get that ip address in i cant access the router config. i try multiple addresses but still nothing. i try to find the ip using cmd but it just gives me tunnel 000000000
i use the status ( in win 7) but it gives me no gate way nor ip address for the router.... can the router get reset due to the new router installed? router = netgear.

ipconfig /all should give you the gateway address. If not change the last octet of the PC's address to .1 or .254

In other words if the PC is 192.168.1.100 put http://192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254 in the URL box.

"i've tried that but it gives me the tunnel stuff"

Did you scroll to the top of the output? Appears you did not. Gateway would be listed up top.

"we recently got a new router and added it to our network"
" i can mange to get in all the other routers except that one"

You would need to be connected to that router and get a ip address from that router for ipconfig to give you a proper gateway ip for that router. Your statement infers multiple routers.

You can't use multiple gateways without doing static ip assignments.

Do you remember what ip address was assigned to this router?

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.
