Can't access a particular IP address

August 10, 2011 at 20:28:12
Specs: Windows 7, i7 6gigs
I can get to anywhere I want on the web except one IP, and I can't ping it either. What can cause this? (Security off)...

Saw your post over at techsupport forum.

Usual reason is a spyware filter that had this site added to it.

One way to find out is go to a cmd prompt and do a tracert motherjones.com and post the results for review

Thx for responding wanderer... Tracert gives 30 Request timed outs. I mentioned in my original post that ping also times out and that my security software is OFF.

Problem is the ip address you are using. Don't use it. It does not work because it is invalid. Use motherjones.com not the ip address.

Hi wanderer,
Actually the IP address (network address) shows up when I do a ping to www.motherjones.com (that's where I got the IP address to begin with).
