Cannot find IP address for network copier

January 28, 2011 at 09:13:37
Specs: Windows XP
Our copier has been cabled to our network but the copier company cannot install the
printer driver without the IP address. Where do I find this? We don't have an IT dept.

Normally that sort of information is to be found on the device itself. Can't the copier people find this out? What make and model is it?

You have to first know what your ip subnet is. You can begin to get this information from your workstation.

go to a cmd prompt
type ipconfig
note your ip address and subnet mask
Post them here for review.

On the copier you have to go to the administration menu and network. You should have a place to input a ip address and subnet mask. You do not need to put a gateway entry in and I advise not to do so.

We need to figure out your ip address scope before you can be advised as to what ip address to put in for the copier.

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.

Canon etc copiers have a menu that will print out the network configuration right on the device as mentioned in the above post.
