Cannot connect to laptop

Specs: Windows XP/ win98
I have 2 pcs running Win98 connected to laptop running winxp sp3 The pcs connect to laptop to back up daily work All was working fine for months untill today. The 2pcs see each other but cannot connect to laptop . All I think I have done recently is uninstall antivirus software on laptop I have never been able to access pcs from laptop and it always said "limited or no connectivity " Laptop is formatted as fat32 I have tried several suggestions including repair which comes back saying cannot renew IP address I am the person that administers the network! If anyone could help it will be much appreciated.

What are the TCP/IP settings on the 3 computers? If you could post them in here (correctly labeled) we can see if it's an addressing issue.

Also, check to ensure the workgroup name is the same on all 3.

TCP/IP laptop WinXP
Local area network properties\internet protocol(tcp/ip)\:
Obtain IP address automatically
Obtain DNS server address automatically
Alternate : Automativ Pvt IP address
IP settings DHCP enabled
DNS : Append primary ......ticked
WINS :Netbios default
OPTIONS : TCP/IP filtering /permit all

PCS with Win 98
Obtain IP address auto
WINS Use DHCP for wins res
DNS config Enable
File & print share for MS netw
ADVANCED Allow binding to ATM

I hope that these are the settings you require
Yes all are in MSHOME

I only need the one Win 98se pc (acting as server) to backup to the laptop the
other one is a workstation accessing the "server" As I mentioned this part still works fine its only the server pc that cant see the laptop no more
