Microsoft Windows server 2003 enterprise
November 28, 2009 at 13:24:46
Specs: server 2003
Hi,
I'm having a problem after replacing dc in single dc network. I worked by this article when did it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555549
but after I removed the old DC i had all sort of problems caused by fsmo error

dcutil output is (errors only):

Testing server: Default-First-Site-Name\DCNEW
Starting test: Connectivity
The host 0771a9cd-f31b-4037-960a-2c8d157g2g3j._msdcs.blabla.com could not be resolved to an
IP address. Check the DNS server, DHCP, server name, etc
Although the Guid DNS name

(0771a9cd-f31b-4037-960a-2c8d157g2g3j._msdcs.blabla.com) couldn't be

resolved, the server name (dcnew.blabla.com) resolved to the IP address

(10.0.0.100) and was pingable. Check that the IP address is

registered correctly with the DNS server.

That is a poorly worded article. You don't "promote" to a global catalog holder.

You didn't make this a global catalog holder.
Doesn't look like configured dns correctly as secondary or ad intergrated or you didn't allow enough time for this to replicate.
You didn't transfer the fsmo roles.
Appears you did not enable netbios over tcp/ip in tcp/ip settings.

Did you demote the original server?

If you did then perhaps its just easier to start fresh and setup the new server from scratch.
