Can I have 2 Internet providers?

I've been with Orange broadband for a few months and it's been unusably slow, so we're cancelling the contract and changing to Sky. Orange are making us trouble-shoot before this can happen, so the preference would be to install Sky, leave the Orange router unplugged and ignore it until the contract ends. Is this realistic? I know both couldn't use the line at the same time, but could we just unplug our Orange router or would it create slow down or not work at all?

Yeah you could just unplug the Orange Router, disconnect all cables from it, and reconnect all of the cables to the Sky Router. Just leave the Orange Router somewhere safe until the contract ends. The Orange company might use internet tests to see if you still have their router plugged in. If they get at you for having it unplugged, just plug it into a internet wall jack and plug in it's power supply, but don't plug in any of your computers to it. Hope you can sort this all out okay! :)
