Specs: Windows XP
can connect to internet but cannot browse.
its a new desktop and I can connect from laptop and I-pod to the internet but the connection to the PC with the ethernet will not connect. The browser is there (Google) but cannot surf. I am completely technically challenged. The old PC we had no problems. Not even sure who I would call for technical support.

If it's new, it should be under warranty. Take it to the people who sold it to you.

I was on the phone with hp & Verizon for close to 3 hours last night.
ruled out router problems.HP tried everything they could think of and sent me back to Verizon. Verizon suggested that maybe internet explorer is bad and to try loading Mozilla browser. Only other suggestion was going back to HP and having them check if a port is blocked. (not too sure what that meant)
Of course if I can't get it working it goes back to manufacturer. Was just hoping someone had same experience and could save me some time.

You could disable windows firewall. If the PC came with Norton, disable that too.
