Hi guys, I was thinking if anyone could help me in here. I am 3rd year student and currently taking up the course - Information Technology. I decided to choose Networking as my major track in the area. This semester we are required to give a proposal or a topic (focuses in Networking area) which could be possibly be a thesis to be implemented or continued in the next semesters. I am thinking to give a proposal about Network Security since it interests me but I really don't know in what aspect (if i am right) i should concentrate knowing that I had never taken up subjects in Network Security before. But I am really interested to know and as of now I am reading some articles in the internet about this. In an article i read about Cryptography and thinking that i could pull a fair thesis proposal about this. So I am hoping to get some suggestions from anyone about this or is this really appropriate for me to tackle in this area.

I would really appreciate it if you gave me any suggestions. In the other hand I am open to any kind of suggestions aside from what I had in mind since Network Security/Cryptography as a subject to my Thesis Proposal seems kinda very hard.

Thank you.

A fairly new concept being put into place is Deep Packet Inspection.

That should get you started. I doubt that anyone else will choose that so your choice should be unique..

Don't get yourself tied up with two different subject areas. Cryptology and Network Security are two completely different fields.

While Network Security may well use some form of Cryptology it uses many other techniques as well.

You could write a whole thesis on Cryptology without once mentioning Network Security. Network security is just one of many uses that Cryptology is put to,
