Hi,

Newbie here.

I was wondering, is there really much benefit to connecting via Wireless-N as opposed to Wireless-G? Will I notice the difference? I'm on a 10mbit connection, with a Draft-N router, but my desktop isn't Draft N-compatible, but.. I'm not sure if I'd see much of a difference if it was. I'm considering http://www.cisco-routers.co.uk/u/pd... any thoughts?

Thanks in advance :)

If you use wireless only to connect to the router for browsings the internet and sometimes downloading files, wireless G is more than enough and you will notice no difference.
If you use wireless to connect several computers and share files and printers, you will notice a difference.
But in that case, the wireless N network adapter in the PC or Laptop mostly must come from the same manufacturer than the router.

Thanks, that's useful.

I've been told I should go for this instead -http://ramblax.co.uk/p~p-96172624~Linksys-WMP600N-WiFi-80211-N-Dual-Band-PCI-Card-4260039348245.aspx - and my router is Linksys, so they should be fairly compatible

I do a reasonable amount of file transferring from PC to PC so I imagine it'd be somewhat beneficial..

Yes so while you have a Linksys Router and you're doing file transfer from PC to PC, it's a good idea to buy wireless N PC network card from Linksys to have the benefit of wireless N.

Other wireless N cards will also work, but mostly don't get that speed as when both Router and wireless card are from the same manufacturer.
