belkin router won't connect to Internet

November 10, 2011 at 16:27:34
Specs: Ubuntu Linux 10.04, Celeron D 3.3 Ghrtz./1.4GB RAM
I have a new Belkin N150 router that connects with all of the PCs (3) in a local wireless/wired network, but won't connect to the Internet via an ARRIS cable modem. This router was bought to replace one that had similar problems. Maybe there's some weird electromagnetic field here? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Can ou connect the the Internet using just the Modem?

Is the Router getting an IP address from the Modem?

Do you have a static or dynamic IP address from your ISP. If the former you will have to enter the IP address manually.

Thanks for the response, Stuart5. I ended up resetting the router. Then I went into the WAN setup and set the MAC address to clone the computer's MAC address. After that, all is running smoothly. Thanks again for the offered advice.
