I have been having an Internet connectivity issue. At first i thought it was the router, because it is one of the cheap Belkin N150's, needing a firmware update or just went bad. The orange light would not turn blue. But I tried just connecting the ethernet cable straight from the modem to the laptop and it wouldn't work either. I can get it to sometimes, but not always. I have ran AV and malware scans and came up clean. Is there an issue with the network cards or something else I can try?

According to the manual, the amber light means that the router can't detect the modem. I'd suspect the modem is faulty, since you have bad or no connection even when the router is taken out of the equation.

A long shot but pop the modem to computer cable in and out of the socket a few times. It just might be due to oxide on the connectors.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

All of my lights on the modem are working, and i still get system readings in the browser (its a sattelite connection). I have tried 3 different ethernet cables. I forgot to mention this, but a few times it wasn't working, I ran a network diagnostic and got a "DNS server not repsonding error", if this helps.

Just to update, the modem had to be re-registered through the ISP. Thanks for all the help.
