What player are you describing? What does have ping have to do with it?

I have a Samsung BD-C6500 DVD player with internet capability and when I do the setup everything is good until I get a problem with the Gateway ping. The Dvd player setup will not let me go any further until I get this problem corrected.

There are 2 sites describing the same problem. See if any of that helps. One user said that it could be a problem with the encryption, if your router is set to use it.

Thanks for your help. I had a chat with Samsung and was told to go to my Router supplier , that there was something wrong with my setup and that they would work with me to correct the problem. Have not had time today but will try tomorrow. I will post again when and if the problem is corrected.

same error occurred at the same time for me on the BD-c5500. It can't be a router error as this connection has been working since I bought the machine. nothing has changed, other than the lack of internet connection for the player. no issues on any of the household laptops or desktops. Our unit is hard wired to a Linksys router. I tried swapping the cables from my desktop and player to verify the linksys is functioning properly. It is. Still no network connection - during network test, fails at gateway.
anyone?

Here's what worked for me.

From the samsung troubleshooting website: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

"26 character WEP keys are not supported by our Blu-ray Players. If you are using a 26 character WEP key you will need to change your password or use WPA encryption on your network."

WEP security was working before , but then had the Gateway Ping issue when I changed my WEP key. So after reading the paragraph above, i changed my router encryption to WPA2-PSK (AES) and reset the samsung unit by pressing/holding the stop button on the unit for 5 seconds. Did the setup and it worked like a champ.
