bad domain name

Specs: Win2003
years ago when this network was built someone named the domain WWW, believe it or not.
We now are running Windows 2003 Standard with a 2000 domain. Our server shows up as server2.www.maplewoodlibrary.org in Active directory.
Everything is working, but it is ugly.
Any suggestions on how to make this go away?

I believe you have the information all wrong.

First, the internet matured from what was then a military project known as ARPAnet (Source).

Second, the WWW (World Wide Web) is a system of interlinked hypertext documents accessed via the Internet. With a web browser, one can view Web pages that may contain text, images, videos, and other multimedia and navigate between them using hyperlinks. (Source)

Third, I don't think your domain looks ugly at all. It could have been worse. Google worst domain names and you will find plenty of hits.

www is not normal for a internal domain name. Certainly can cause problems with internet email if used.

Your forest has to be at a 2003 functional level but it can be done.
