AVG 2013 installation knocked out my internet connection

Specs: Windows XP
I installed Avg antivirus 2013 and now my computer cant acquire an ip address. What can I do? I even ran a data cable to it still nothing. Ping wont work and I can still locate my wireless network

Uninstall AVG, then check to see if the problem has rectified itself.
If it has, do not re-install AVG. Use a different antivirus product instead.

If you decide to uninstall AVG then try to disable it first and also use the appropriate uninstaller from this list:
http://www.avg.com/gb-en/utilities

As you can't get onto the Internet you will need to Save the uninstaller downloaded file (not Run it) onto another computer. Then transfer it to this one using a flash drive. To start the uninstall double click the Saved file.
