Already Solved: Not being redirected for Wifi credentials

Hey all, I was just about to go crazy trying to solve this Wifi issue with my new flat, but I've managed to fix it whilst typing up the problem. I've included the original problem followed by the solution in case anyone browsing here in the future needs help with the same thing in the future, as there doesn't appear to be anything else about it on Google's search results.

---

My issue is that I've just moved into a new flat, and the building uses its own WiFi network, which requires you to enter a username and a PIN on first use.

When I tried to set it up on my phone, it had no issue redirecting me to a page where I could enter those details.

However, when I tried the same thing on my laptop, I get the "Additional Log In information may be required. Click here to open your browser." message.
When I do so, it opens the Chrome homepage, but does not direct me to the page to enter my username and PIN.

---

I almost couldn't believe how simple the fix was: all I had to do was set Internet Explorer as my default browser, and then I was directed immediately to the correct login page. I suspect the original issue was that the redirect/prompt was never updated to work with newer browsers like Chrome.

Hopefully this helps anyone else with the same issue.
