Advanced Network connection settings

Specs: Windows XP SP3, Intel Pentium/ 3 GB Ram
I only have one pc (windows xp SP3) using a Comcast cable modem connection.
I'm hoping someone can give me a bit of information.

In my LAN connections properties I have only Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) checked.

In advanced properties, under WINS tab, "Enable LMHOSTS Lookup" is unchecked. My NetBIOS settings is set to "Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.
"register this connection's address in DNS" is unchecked?

Are these correct settings?

Yes. Those settings don't have much to do with your Internet (Comcast) settings.

Don't change the other settings or you could make yourself vulnerable to hacker attacks.

You want to really know what you are doing before changing those settings from default. Just leave them at default.

That's why I posted here, to find out which settings apply to my connection.

I have been able to get information regarding NetBIOS setting. From what I understand, most internet companies do this but I should leave it to default just in the rare case that my ISP doesn't.

I see no reason why LMHOSTS should be checked.
