Accessing shared folder on network drive

January 10, 2010 at 12:12:43
Specs: Windows XP
Hi,
I have Plextor PX-EH network HDD, which by default has file share named DISK (root of the drive), which can be accessed from any computer. However, when I access it from one of my computers, it keeps asking for a password. Accessing from any other computer works fine. All computers are running XP.
Thanks for your assistance

You need a user account on the machine that asks for a password. You also need to match the password you use regularly with this account. Then you will connect automatically and not be asked for a password.

Hi wanderer,
Umm, the manual for the network HDD says DISK share is accessible for all users. I can access it from all other computers without any password asked, just not from this one.
Thanks for your help...

Review the user accounts on the machine in question and get back to us.

It doesnt have any particular accounts set up; you can create accounts and assign folders for individual users, but root of the drive is accessible to all and as I said indeed it is from all other machines but this one.
Thanks for your help,
