Access files across different subnet

March 22, 2010 at 14:28:58
Specs: Windows 2000
Unable to access files across subnet in a mixed Windows O/S environment. Stopped working several months ago; have not been able to determine problem.

Able to ping and see computer but not access directories as access is denied. This occurs on users that have now been given administrator level access and also to the administrator.

Subnet is two miles away from office. Communications is through Cisco 2524 router in office and remote location. Office is on 192.168.0.0 while remote is 192.168.1.0.

Suggestions? Thanks.

What error message are you getting when you attempt to connect to the share?

You' ve double checked to ensure the share is still setup correctly and nothing on it has been changed (ie: group/user membership and their associated perm's)?

\\ServerName is not accessible.

The network path was not found.

I've double checked and even explicitly added the user with ALL permissions and still receive the same error.

Addnl info: The remote location's server is Win NT which serves as that location's DHCP. The office DHCP is also Win NT with the file share I'm trying to access is located on a Win 2000 server. All users can access the share at the office but the same users can't access the share at the remote location, even myself as the Administrator.
