Can you see your network listed when using the dongle?

If so use the same passphrase and security as your smartphone or any other computer in the house that works.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Some tips stolen from a website:

Verify that your router is ON and the Power logo is solidly lit.

If you are far from the router, you might try moving closer to see if your device is out of the wireless network range.

Using a computer attached to the router via a network cable, open the router's web-based setup page by entering “myrouter.local” or “http://192.168.1.1” and make sure that Broadcast SSID is ON.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

What local network IP have assigned to the router? something like 192.168.0.1 ?
What IP is your computer displaying?

Do you see the SSID <network_name>_5G on your computer wireless network list?

The Linksys forum suggest to upgrade to the latest version.
Some not so happy comments too:

@sluc
That link is to probs from much earlier in the year.

Router is working fine.
1 pc hardwired - fully working
1 smart phone - 2.4ghz channel fully working.
1 smart phone - 5ghz channel can connect to the wireless network and receives a router given ip of 192.168.2.39
even though the adapter gets an ip from the 5ghz channel it will not connect to the router page of 192.168.2.1 and of course no internet

Tried using different security modes and with no security.

Windows diagnostic returns with a default gateway error?
(I run the BB into a Linksys AM200 which then passes it into the WRT1900AC.
Router is setup as a static ip with dchp on)

Trying to chase down latest ralink drivers for the adapter.......

Try something basic if you have not already, unplug the router, wait a minute, and plug back in again. When the router is fully up again, many problems fix themselves. - Very simple and basic but it is therefore the first thing I try when a network problem occurs that has no obvious problem.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

[SOLVED]

there's 4 channels to choose from in 5ghz.
3 work
1 doesn't
auto does not
