2 routers vice a network adapter??

I am trying to setup my XBOX360 wirelessly. I have two (one of which is old) routers and would like to avoid having to purchase an adapter to make this work. My two routers are a linksys WRT54G and a Belkin F5d6231-4 v2002.

My desktop is hooked up to the router via cable and that is fine. The only thing I need wireless for is the XBOX.
I know that I can do the DD-WRT firmware upgrade to make the two router configuration work, but only the linksys router is capable of receiving it.

Currently I have the Linksys hooked up to the modem&PC. Since the Belkin router is .11b, could I hook that router up to the modem&PC instead without losing speed in my internet connection? Also, would it affect streaming to the XBOX since it is an .11b or would the rate difference be negligible?

I know it is not the ideal setup, but am just wondering if it could work without noticeably decreasing XBOX live performance or PC internet connections.

You need a wireless interface for the xbox that will connect to the linksys router wirelessly.

You can not use what you have to accomplish this.

You will get much better performance with the xbox via a wired connection.

Sorry, I should have been more detailed in the OP.

The linksys will be wired to the XBOX as I don't want a LAN cable running through my house. The only wireless part of this connection will be between the two routers.

I understand. The routers have to support bridging. Though you can make the linksys bridge that doesn't mean the belkin will talk to it. Wireless access points, which is what the belkin has built in, don't naturally talk to other access points.

Thanks for the info. I would like to try it to see if it is possible. Any particular previous post where that info is highlighted? Or is it pretty easy to do?
From what I understand from your earlier post, I won't lose any connection speed to my internet - just may lose some to the xbox, correct?
