Specs: Windows XP
I have a linksys router connected to my cable modem. It is wired to a server. I connected a dlink wireless router to the linksys, but need to place it up front for stronger wireless signal. I can get on internet fine but cant access the server.

What exactly do you mean by "place it up front"?

It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.

I have the linksys router connected to the dlink with an ethernet cable. I need the dlink wireless to phsycially be placed in the front of my building. the distance between where i want the dlink and where the wired router is, is about 500ft.

use this as an example of how you should set this up so they are in the same subnet. Physical location does not matter. You can think router lan port to switch then to the internet router as the wire between routers in the example.
