You don't by chance have a satellite connection or a wireless phone base right next to the wifi router?

You could always try to disable 40MHz in the 2.4GHz settings on the Wi-Fi router. Mac computers, iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch do not support this mode.

3G is a completely separate type of network connection and requires a separate account with a cellphone/ISP provider. It is basically a dialup service using cellphone technology. Your IPAD may also have inbuilt wifi but since I am completely ignorant of anything apple I cannot advise you how to access the network settings interface in your ipad. What make/model wireless router do you have and what is the physical environment in which you are operating? Are all systems in relatively similar proximity to the router? Are there intervening walls or other metal objects? Are there other interfering devices such as cordless home phones etc in the vicinity?
