Specs: Windows XP SP3
HI, I've been cursed with a 169 ip address, I'll be
using the internet for about 5 - 10 minutes and
suddenly I get the box "limited or no connectivity",
and the internet goes out. It's horrible! I used the
command "ipconfig" and got this information:

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

CDocuments and Settings\ja>ipconfig

Windows IP Configuration

I've had this problem for well over 5 months, so if you
can help me fix this problem, I would really, REALLY
appreciate it!

169.254.x.x is an automatic Address issued by windows when it cannot connect to a DHCP server. First thing it check the your router is working properly. Are all the necessary lights lit! check the cable connecting you to the router. You may have a loose connection.

It's a bluetooth device. I have yet to meet a bluetooth that connects to a router.

Media is also disconnected so we are starting with a physical connection issue.

I believe this is a misread of the problem.

Good news, I think I fixed it. I went to my dads computer and
got the ip from that computer and then put that into my
settings, except one number higher. Now I've used the internet
for 11 hours and it hasn't disconnected once! Wooo!

You need to disable the bluetooth device since that is not what you are accessing the internet with.
