Hai! Im trying to install service pack 5 in Novell 6.0 server to install Symantec AV. But when copying the SP files for installation its asking Administrator Usr name and password. After giving that it displaying that "User having insufficient rights" is there any default administrator user name in Novell. The remaining default user names are LDAP_user and NISUser. there is a password for NISUser that i don'tknow. Please help me in this!
Yes the default administrator is the "admin" account. This account has full rights over the tree, kinda like the Enterprise Administrator account in AD. Depending on the prompt, you will need to write the full username+context.
Shoot back if you need more info.
yes i gave the administrator user name as admin and my administrator password is there any other systax to give user name in that? Please help me!
Yes, as I said you will need to give the username + context. This can be done in a few different ways (depending on what its asking for)
eg. admin.organisation
eg. cn=admin,o=organisationDo you know which container the user sits in, as in where in the edirectory tree the user object resides?
yes its asking administrator name and password.
So i 'll try it by giving admin.BEI as administrator name
because BEI is my tree and under that BEI is my organisation name so i think this is correct. So i'll try tomorrow and reply!
Thanks a Lot Micka!
ys its worked but after installation and reboot its asking "date & time" <<NOT TIME ZONE>>
:what should i feed in this? Please help me!
after install i set the time Zone ans restarted. Now standing like
' :_ " like this is there any command to run the OS?
Help me please!
Lets go back a step. Are you applying a service pack or installing a new server? In either case, its actually loading the Netware OS? Are you at the system console prompt or dos prompt? What happens if you hit CTRL+ESC? Does a menu list come up? Any errors or more info?
ya im in the system console.
showing info
"Novell netware 6
Support pack revision 05
copyright
Time and today's date
:_"
Status of logger screen is pollimgr.nlm status OK
when restarting now only the admin volume is dismounting.
Help me please!
Is this a new server or existing one you have just applied the SP to? Whats the output from the "volumes" command at system console? Can you see SYS volume in NSSMU? Can you access it via a windows pc?
Need more info on what the issue is.
this is exiting 6.0 Server just i installed the Service pack 5.
Iam unable to ping also and unable to see any one volume.
When restart its dismounting admin volume only.
Does ping.nlm exist or getting another type of error? Use "edit" to browse and see what volumes are there. If SYS exists can you locate the autoexec.ncf? Are you getting an ip or anything? "ipconfg".
Restarting the server with "nwserver -na" command might help too, then load nlms individually to see where its stuffed.
Use "m *" at the system console to see what modules are loaded.
ip config replies "server up time:"
edit command is not browsable its asking the path.
"m *" command listed the modules running at present.
in that pver500.nlm for version library and pmlodr.nlm pmlodr for nw6" Loaded from internal nlm list [c:\nwserver]" is listed differently in green colored letters. i think there is the problem. But i dont know what its dealing with.
the server went down and it created a big headache for me.
there is only one volume mounted that is "admin"
if i gave "mount sys" then "ther is no accessible disk dirves novel partition......" is displaying .
in the Logger screen "MALHLP.NLM Load status ok
NSS background checking scheduled.
NICI CSS: FATAL Initialization error.
Controlled cryptography services are not available." and
ended with "loading module PMLODR.NLM
module POLIMGR.NLM load status OK"the pmlodr.nlm is not loaded properly. there is not any OK status for that.
Do you have Novell support contracts? You might need to escalate the issue to them. Its too difficult to do without seeing it.
ok sir thanks for ur support.
I called a Novell service engineer 'll see what he is going to do.
He told that the only way is to overwrite the OS.
When overwrited what happen to Users, Users settings, Volumes and its files?Any Idea?
I wouldn't be worried much as they have access to special tools and have a few brains that can fix almost anything. Is this server the only server in the tree?
User objects live in the edirectory which is replicated by default with the first 3 servers. I'm confident Novell tech services will be able to restore it easily enough.
Good luck!
Yes this is the only Novell server.
Let's see what is goingon.
We should to accept anything that 'll happen.
Once again thanks a lot for ur support.
Sounds like STARTUP.NCF, where harddisk controller driver is loaded, or AUTOEXEC.NCF, where network driver and network configuration a.s.o. is loaded, or both are not loaded. At the server console try this command:
scan for new devicesAlso check, whether the network configuration is set by this command at the server console:
configYou may also use nwconfig to check, what harddisk controller is configured.
