First, 10.6.6 is out of date. I would install the 10.6.8 update from July 25, 2011. This combo will update any version of 10.6.x to 10.6.8:

Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1

Also, what multimedia player are you using? If you're using QuickTime, use "Software Update" to update to current version. (Upper left hand corner of screen, click on Apple logo, then Software Update).

I also highly recommend VLC Media Player. I have never found a file that couldn't be played by VLC, and it can even fix certain types of "broken" files. This open-source player is also compatible with virtually any operating system, Mac/Windows/Solaris/Linux, etc.

Hope this helps.
