Solved why does my mac say my dvd is empty

November 16, 2011 at 03:12:04
Specs: Macintosh
burned a DVD on Philips ext DVD burner, and then accepted option to burn second copy.
It took the same time, disc looks like previous copy, IE about 60% used,
but mac will not recognize in finder, says it is a blank disc

There are a lot of possibilities of why it failed. Did you use Disk Utility to burn the DVD? That's the best way to create CDs/DVDs.

iMac G5 1.8GHz, 2GB RAM, 160GB, Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8, SuperDrive
PowerBook G4 1.33GHz, 1.25GB RAM, 60GB, Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11, SuperDrive

hi thanks for picking up my query
I copied disc using iSkysoft DVD copy Pro.
This morning tried again using disc utility, first saving as disc image, myDVD.dmg
Just told me after half hour that burn failed as could not verify disc.

Tried to play from that image file in my movie folder, but it plays badly, with hesitations.

It will play from the iSoft file folder version, saved as video_TS

However I wanted a disc version to play at home
Any clues? and why does finder not even acknowledge a disc is in the player?
Some attitude problem?
