You need to buy a retail copy of !0.5. It comes with an instruction booklet. Basically, it is just a question of booting from the DVD and following the on-screen instructions. Make sure that your system meets the minimum requirements for 10.5.
I tried to buy a retail copy but the price is impossible. Why? if most of the upgrades are free?
Minor upgrades (e.g. 10.4.3 to 10.4.4) are free but major upgrades (e.g. 10.4 to 10.5), which provide significant new features, aren't. If you want free OS upgrades you need to look at the free alternatives, such as Linux. But that would be a huge change, which you probably don't want.
Thank you iJack, now I understand the problem. I'll try to upgrade in spite of the huge cost.
You need to ensure your system will run Apple OS X 10.5.x, could not check for you as you have listed zero details of hardware: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3759
