Specs: Macintosh , 1.33 GHz 512 MB DDR SDRAM
i have a G4 ibook with the original o.s. 10.3.9 and i want to upgrade the operating system to 10.5. Can i do this? Is the machine strong enough?

Yes, you can if your machine meets the system requirements. According to official OS X requirements, your G4 must at least have 867 MHz of power. You also need to at least have a DVD-ROM, 512 MB RAM, and 9 GB of disk space.

Hopefully, this should answer your question. If it is just your processing speed that prevents you from upgrading, then you can use XPostFacto to upgrade OS X that way.

For 10.5 I would recommend at least 1GB of RAM. My Mac Mini has 512MB with a 1.42GHz processor and 10.5 runs like a dog. So bad that I went back to 10.4 and only use 10.5 via a VMWare Hackintosh.
