The page will timeout before it can open..why

Specs: Macintosh , 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
I will try to describe it the best I can,so please bare with me,firefox is my browser and when I go to open a page and sometimes, actually alot of the times it will time out before opening or the page will say the server cant be found and asks if I want to try again,and sometimes I know when its going to happen because the blank bar at the bottom of the screen thats suppose to fill left to right with blue ( then opens when bar is full ) sometimes will only come across 3/4,halfway or maybe wont come across with bar with anything,it will remain blank before it times out,and if I restart the machine it might work just fine,not all the time but sometimes a restart will help,can someone please tell me whats going on or not going on to cause this to happen,I hope I was able to give a proper description of the problem,thank you

Try clearing your caches and running disk utility. Here is a youtube video doing just that:
