Apple Imac desktop pc
August 10, 2011 at 04:21:45
Specs: Macintosh OS 9.2, PowerPC
When powered ON the usual bing is followed by a short crackling sound.
The screen stays black, the fan (and I think the hd) are heard spinning.
The power button stays amber.
Problem occured when the iMac was moved to an adjacent table.

According to this, iMac is in Display Sleep Mode or Energy Saver Mode.

Have you tried rebooting, tapping the spacebar or moving the mouse?

Neither keyboard/mouse nor rebooting work.
Other things I have tried:
-leave it on a few hours
-startup iMac with keyboard / mouse disconnected
-startup with command+option+P+R
-press and hold power button does not turn off iMac, I have to pull the power cord
The model is actually an iMac 266 MHz.

Sounds like it might be a video problem, the integrated video (or daughtercard if there is one) may have bit the dust.
