photoshop cs4 crashes

Adobe Photoshop extended cs4 11.0
April 27, 2010 at 15:27:13
Specs: mac os 10.5.8 , 512mb
photoshop cs4 crashes every time on my mac tower (quad g5)everytime i open more than 3 or 4 images,i have set the right memory usage in the photoshop preferences, set the open gl settings, upgraded to the newer updated version, none of which have helped.i also have the crash report if that may help.
it sounds like a ram problem to me but thats as far as my intelligence goes,as im a newcomer to the world of apple.
i may be missing alot of info here so if it's needed i can add whatever is needed.
thanks in advance for any help.

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x00000000c49fbc57

If I were to guess at it I'd say bad RAM, or RAM mismatched.

Looking at your config, you have different density RAM installed in different banks, and they are different speed rating too. You also have these installed which do not meet the minimum speed specs for your G5 tower:

Memory Module: DIMM6/J7300, 512 MB, DDR2 SDRAM, PC2-3200U-288
Memory Module: DIMM7/J7400, 512 MB, DDR2 SDRAM, PC2-3200U-288

If I were you, I would take all the RAM out, sell it on eBay and buy new matched sets, RAM is cheap as dirt these days.

Hey,

I have a Xeon Mac Pro and when I open more than 7 images in
CS4 it advises me that Photoshop wont be able to accelerate
more than 7 images. It depends on the memory size of the
graphic card you are using. As a reference I can tell you I have
only 256 in my ATI 2600XT.

My point is in your case it may be an incompatibility with the
drivers of your graphic card not supporting core graphics with the
acceleration in Photoshop CS4. Check on the minimum
requirements for PS on Macs. CS4 is specifically optimized for
Intel Macs.
