Opening word documents on word for mac 2008

October 15, 2010 at 05:24:02
Specs: Macintosh
My memory stick has documents from various sources (and so probably various versions of word and some PDF files). My Mac doesn't show all of the documents that are on the stick and some of the documents (despite saying they are saved as .doc or .docx aren't opening properly. Some documents won't show the pictures in text boxes and other docs the formatting is just all wrong. Yet when i open them on my laptop they are fine. Please someone point me in the right direction!!!

On the PC laptop make sure that the photographs, icons, fonts and anything else you use is embedded into the word document. As a default the grahics and fonts are usually linked and not part of the file so go to the pc and somewhere in preferences or custom settings you will find what you need to add these files to the document. If you are doing this a lot you may need to insure that th fonts files are identical on both machines and may need copied from one to the other. Even when send the files to be converted to PDF make sure the fonts and proper resolution of the graphics are embedded into the PDF file.
