If you're trying to logon to your iMac - and get to the desktop etc., then the password you use is the one you set up/created when you first received/configured the system.

The "password" for wifi (often referred to as a security key) is different (and noticeably so…)

So are you trying to get past the logon stage and to your desktop when you boot up - and can't get there?

You pay enough for these things, so talk to support. Either the retailer you bought it from or Apple should be able to help you.

Agree with "ijack" in that you would do well to contact the vendor and/or Apple; especially as it's a new system? Being new it will be under a 12 month guarantee as well, and that includes 3 months local support too if I remember correctly?

Thank you. I'll contact the Apple shop where I bought it. I've only just unpacked it!

It came up with the screen etc and started the instructions and then I accidentally selected to have the VoiceOver. I got rid of that by pressing Command Fn F5 but now it's brought up a black screen with my name and requesting a password. When I put in what I thought was the password it won't go past there. I've tried several passwords which might work but nothing works, so now it won't go back or forward. There is an instruction at the bottom saying I have two test dialogs and that's it. I ink I will have to ring either the retailer I bought it from or the Apple Helpline. How hard could this be! Although I am a first time Mac user, apart from the iPad.
