Specs: Macintosh
Microsoft Word 2008 will not open on my Mac!! It used to work fine for the past 3 years. But now when i try to open it, it just says that it has "encountered a problem and needs to close." Like a fool about 2 weeks ago I downloaded something called MacKeeper thinking it was part of the Mac protection stuff... actually I don't know what I was thinking downloading that onto my computer. And now I can't open ANY word documents, or create any! HELP ME PLEASE!!! I need this for school!!

Thanks a million in advance!

Exit all Microsoft Office for Mac programs.
On the Go menu, click Home.
Open the Library folder.
Open the Preferences folder.
Look for a file that is named com.microsoft.Word.plist.
Move it to the desktop. If you do not locate the file, the program is using the default preferences.

If not, then try this:

Exit all Microsoft Office for Mac programs.
On the Go menu, click Home.
Open the Library folder.
Open the Preferences folder.
Open the Microsoft folder.
Locate the file that is named com.microsoft.Word.prefs.plist.
Move the file to the desktop.
Start Word, and check whether the problem still occurs.

If not, TRY:

On the Go menu, click Home.
Open the Library folder
Open the Application Support folder.
Open the Microsoft folder.
Open the Office folder.
Open the User Templates folder.
Locate the file that is named Normal, and move the file to the desktop.
