Can you remember in what application you requested that sharing be turned off? I would recommend looking inside the Network and the Sharing preference panes inside the System Preferences application. To open this application, open the Apple menu (located on the top, left hand corner of the screen), and click "System Preferences..." I would recommend using OnyX as well to clean out all system caches, and anything else that may be hindering you from connecting due to old/conflicting settings. If you are using AirPort (or another wireless network adapter) then you will need to clear any saved networks, and reconfigure them if you can no longer connect with the wireless connection. On Ethernet, restart the computer.

- In the Network preference pane, if you see a green indicator, you should be connected to that network. Otherwise, you will need to reconfigure it.

- In the Sharing pane, check that any ports or areas of your network that you may have disabled or active.

Otherwise, if the change was made in an administrative application or utility, such as in Terminal or in NetInfo Manager, then it would involve additional steps.
